About this guide
This guide will help you with:
- Studying online - using the technology (including Canvas / Blackboard), and staying connected.
- Your assignment research - this guide provides links to key legal databases, tutorials for those databases, and other useful assignment resources - see the 'Legislation', 'Cases' and 'Law Topic Resources' pages.
- Getting further help - find links to workshops on this page, and information about referencing and assignment support.

5 things to get you started...
On-campus assignment support is available to all Business and Law students (drop in, no appointment needed):
Online (MS Teams) / face-to-face / phone appointments: You can book a 30-minute appointment with a Librarian and/or a Learning Adviser - ensure you have your Unit Plan, any other assignment instructions, and your specific queries ready:
- Book a Librarian appointment, or email library@ecu.edu.au for assistance with assignment research, finding credible academic resources, using databases and referencing.
- Law students should email to request a Librarian appointment, rather than use the booking system.
- Book a Learning Adviser appointment, or email learningadviser@ecu.edu.au, for assistance with unpacking assignments, assignment structure and writing advice.
- Academic Skills Workshops covering Researching for your Assignment and Referencing (APA / AGLC4).
These will be held on campus and online.
- Peer Assistants - just-in-time assistance when you need to know what to do, or where to click, in order to solve any online learning issues as they arise and let you get on with your work.
- SLIDE: Accessing your learning online - how to use the learning technologies (Blackboard, Pebblepad, Panopto, Turnitin, and more...)
- Online communication & collaboration - online classrooms/group work, using discussion boards, online netiquette and more...
- VEEPS: Virtual Peer Support for online learning - just-in-time assistance when you need to know what to do, or where to click, to solve online learning issues and get on with your work.

- JADE (free open law resource - e.g. for locating unreported judgments)

- Getting Savvy with JADE - take your legal research skills to the next level with JADE's intermediate training.
- Jasmine (new) - ask Jasmine a question and you will be shown passages from judgments with answers, and a supercharged starting point to continue your legal research journey from within JADE
