SLIDE: Student Learning in a Digital Environment: Manage your data

Managing your data

 OneDrive cloud storage

OneDrive, part of Office365, is where you can easily store, share and collaborate on assignments from any device.

As an ECU student, you have access to 1 Terabyte (TB) of cloud storage through OneDrive, which you can access anywhere from any device, as long as you are connected to the internet.

You can access OneDrive through your student email or by downloading the OneDrive app from your App Store.

Tips for managing the data and content of your assignments:

  1. It is important that you have clear and meaningful names for your folders and files – know where your assignments and learning materials are on your device. Keep your file names simple, short but descriptive. Include dates (in a consistent format) and versions so you can go back to a previous copy if you need to. For example: 2019_S1_UPU1130_Assignment2_v1
  2. Use ECU supported cloud storage tools like OneDrive file storage to make backups of all your important documents. Students get 1 Terabyte of free storage.
  3. Make multiple copies of your data, store it in different locations and use more than 1 type of storage hardware. This may seem like too much but it can help protect you from hardware malfunctions, theft or physical accidents like flooding
