Readings are managed by teaching staff in the Reading List module within the LMS (Learning Management System, or Canvas). Academics can add and remove readings as required. Readings can include links to e-books, books held by the Library, journal articles, excerpts from books, conference papers, links to websites, and other sources.
READING IMPORTANCE
You can make a reading Recommended, Required or Core.
If you would like a physical item that is not a Core reading to be added to the High Use Collection, please indicate this this in the Notes for library field, including the relevant campus. Library staff will inform you of the result of your request.
BOOKSHOP
Books added to a Reading List along with a number of enrolled students are sent to the Bookshop (The School Locker) and ECU Student Guild Second-hand Bookshop every week. This information is used for stock ordering and to assist students to identify items they need to purchase.
Reading List Importance is flagged on The School Locker website as follows:

ELECTRONIC READINGS
Electronic readings can be added to the Reading List in the form of a PDF or a link and are available to your students 24 hours a day in any location, through the Reading List in your LMS.
If the item is available in one of the Library subscription databases (e.g. ProQuest) you can add the full citation details for the item and add the permanent link to the reading.
If the library does not have a subscription to the journal article, conference paper or book chapter you wish to include as an electronic reading you will need to provide a PDF when you enter the reading on the reading List.
All PDFs added to the Reading List will be checked by library staff to ensure Copyright considerations are met before being made available to students.
COPYRIGHT RESTRICTIONS FOR ELECTRONIC ITEMS
Under the Copyright Act and the University’s Agreement with Copyright Agency Limited, various restrictions are imposed on the portion of a work that can be copied.
