Starting Resources

The study of the marine ecosystem covers both marine biology and marine ecology.

The title below will provide an introduction to Marine Ecology and some of the concepts around the topic.

Fisheries or Fisheries Biology is the study of the growth, reproduction and life-cycles of fish.

The title below will provide an introduction to Fisheries and some of the concepts around the topic.

The study of the freshwater ecosystem covers both freshwater biology and freshwater ecology.

Freshwater biology is the study of the organisms living in freshwater environments, their growth, reproduction, life-cycles and evolution.

Freshwater ecology is the study of the relationships between biological, chemical and physical aspects of the freshwater environment.

Both of these studies focus on the natural process as well as the issues and influence of human activity on the freshwater environment.

The title below will provide an introduction to Freshwater Ecology and some of the concepts around the topic.

Limnology is the study of biological, chemical, physical, and geological characteristics and functions of inland waters. These include lakes, reservoirs, ponds, rivers, wetlands, and groundwater.
