GenAI systems like ChatGPT can be very helpful in transferring your search terms into Library Search and Library Database-friendly search strategies.
Computers do not understand our search terms the way we do. Asking a question like "What are the environmental impacts on Humans consuming insects" will not get you the best search results.
Instead, you need to construct your search strategy using Boolean logic and search syntax like:
("insect consumption" OR entomophagy) AND ("Environmental footprint” OR Sustainability OR “Carbon footprint” OR “Greenhouse gas emissions” OR “Climate change”)
Sometimes it is easier to format this in Advanced Search like this:
However, this still requires you to understand the use of the Boolean operators and search strategies.
Instead, ChatGPT and GenAI can help you format your search terms and keywords in the best way to use the computer searches.
Try a prompt like:
"ChatGPT example prompt - Please format these keywords on 'environmental impact' into a search strategy using Boolean logic and include the terms for 'insect consumption.'"
Do not use these terms to search within ChatGPT instead use this strategy in ECU Library Search AND / OR our academic databases (Library databases)
Remember to filter to “Peer reviewed” and look for current sources.
After searching, remember to assess the credibility of your sources (try the CRAAP Test!)
