FAQs

Who Is Eligible to borrow through ILL?

  • academic and general staff with university related research needs;
  • graduate, honours and higher degree students

         ***(please note we are only able to obtain copies of chapters or articles for offshore students. We cannot send books from other libraries overseas).

What can’t I borrow?

  • eBooks cannot be borrowed.  Hardcopies will be requested if available or you may request a chapter. We can arrange for contents page to scanned if necessary. 
  • Most materials are available for loan. Please note that fulfilment of your request is dependent on the loan policy of the supplying library. 

 

How long will it take to receive my request?
We are unable to provide accurate times on when requests will become available as this is determined by the the supplying library.

Copies
Articles/chapter requests on average take 1 to 7 days

Loans
Loan items requested Australian libraries can take up to approximately 2 weeks.
Loans from overseas libraries can take up to approximately 6 weeks.

Why has my loan item been recalled?

The lending library requires the item back. See Recalls

How much does it cost?
There is no charge to staff and students to use this service. The cost of obtaining copies and loans is financed by the University.

What if I accidentally damage or lose my interlibrary loan.
If an item is damaged or lost while in your care you will be charged for the replacement cost of the item.

Why can’t undergraduate students use this service?
We encourage undergraduate students to utilise the vast resources available from ECU library.
