Subject Librarians

Subject Librarians assist teaching staff and students in making the best use of the library and information resources for teaching and learning needs and have created Library Guides for each subject area.

Subject Librarians provide: 

  • research, referencing and learning technology support advice for students
  • specialised research support for teaching staff and higher degree by research students via appointment 
  • deliver research, referencing and learning technology workshops
  • research and referencing support via academic skills drop-in sessions
  • deliver sessions tailored to teaching units and student needs

Library Technicians are staff who assist students and university staff face to face, by telephone and online.

They can support you with:

  • Searching ECU Library Search and the Library databases
  • Locating and retrieving online and print resources
  • Navigating the Library Homepage
  • Digital Technologies
  • Referencing (basic)
  • Study room bookings
  • Printing and photocopying

Find our Library Technicians at the customer services desks at each of the campus Libraries. You can also contact the Library via email library@ecu.edu.au or by phone to speak to one of our staff.

Library Peer Assistants are current ECU students who have been trained to assist with general Library services and learning technology enquiries.

Library Peer Assistants provide support with: 

  • using learning technologies such as: 

    • Canvas 

    • Turnitin 

    • Panopto 

    • PebblePad 

    • Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) 

    • and other university technologies 

  • locating and retrieving Library online and print resources 

  • navigating Library Guides and Library Databases 

  • assisting with printing, scanning, and photocopying 

  • guiding to appropriate help and resources within the campus

You can find our Peer Assistants at the Library service desk every day during semester, including outside our core business hours. NO APPOINTMENT REQUIRED!

  • They are also available to support you via Team Chat and telephone. The Peer Support page has more information about service times and locations.
