Useful search terms
The list below contains useful subject headings for Indigenous Australian research in topics ranging from art, music, literature, history, politics, education, health, law and social sciences. Clicking on any of these subject heading will bring up relevant items in ECU WorldSearch.
ECU uses the terms ‘Indigenous Australian’ and ‘Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander’. This refers to people who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, or both, and are accepted as such by the community with which they associate.
"Aboriginal Australians" is the standard subject term used in Dewey Decimal Colloguing and so that is used for the subject headings below. Please consider this a starting point as it does not include all available searches.
