How does it happen?
The methods used to collect and utilise data in AI systems can introduce bias, and data generated by users can create output loops that perpetuate this bias (Naik et al., 2022).
Types of bias:
Sampling Bias: When the data collected is not representative of the population. For example, if a dataset used to train an AI model predominantly includes data from one demographic group, the model may not perform well for other groups (Chen et al., 2023).
Prejudice Bias: When the training data reflects societal stereotypes or prejudices. For instance, if historical data shows a preference for certain genders or ethnicities, an AI model trained on this data might perpetuate these biases (Chen et al., 2023).
