Search Engines and Library Databases

Web Search engines are powerful tools used to locate information and websites online.

We often use Web Search engines without thinking about how they work (why should we, when they are so effective?) However, no technology is unbiased, and when they help us discover facts, news, and knowledge, it is critical to understand how our tools work, and why they return certain results over others.

This Guide helps you to use these tools more effectively, and safely.

The Guide also helps you understand the difference between Web Search engines and Library Databases, and when to use one over the other.
