What is Turnitin?

Turnitin is a web-based tool that helps prevent plagiarism by comparing your assignment to a database of published articles and papers.Your lecturer may ask you to use Turnitin when you submit your assignments through Blackboard.  It will also compare your assignment to that of other students who have submitted their assignments to determine its originality.

How do I use Turnitin?

If you need to use Turnitin to submit your assignment, you will see the Turnitin logo next to your assignment in Blackboard.

For instructions on how to use Turnitin, login to Blackboard and select the the Student Support link at the top of the Blackboard screen.

Then select Turnitin Support from the menu on the left-hand side of the screen.

How do I submit an assignment using Blackboard?

To submit an assignment using Blackboard, you should:

  • open Blackboard and select your unit;
  • select your assessment/submission link, following the instructions provided by your lecturer or assignment information;
  • use the browse function and select your assignment file from your computer; and 
  • select the submit or save button at the bottom of your screen to upload your assignment.
